Job Description

REM Community Services, a proud member of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing compassionate community-based services primarily for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With an unwavering commitment to the belief that every person has the right to live well, REM Community Services has made it their mission to empower and support individuals in leading fulfilling and independent lives. As part of the larger Sevita organization, a leading provider of specialized health care home and community-based services, REM Community Services embodies over 50 years of experience and expertise in enhancing quality of life for thousands of individuals across the United States. Their approach is person-centered, emphasizing the importance of fostering real relationships, personal growth, and community involvement for the people they serve.

Sevita, with a workforce of around 40,000 dedicated team members, serves approximately 50,000 individuals nationwide, continually advancing innovative and compassionate care. They uphold the highest standards of equality and diversity, ensuring an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on race, gender identity, religion, or any other protected characteristic.

The caregiver role at Sevita, within the REM Community Services umbrella, offers a unique and rewarding career path centered on meaningful human connections and impactful care. Caregivers assist individuals with daily living activities including personal hygiene, while supporting those who may have behavioral challenges or complex medical needs. This position emphasizes hands-on assistance, patience, and a supportive attitude to help participants achieve their personal development goals such as budgeting, exercise routines, and nutrition management.

Caregivers become an integral part of a mission-driven team, where the work goes beyond routine tasks to genuinely enhance lives. The company fosters a culture of trust and autonomy, encouraging caregivers to take initiative and engage participants in their communities and favorite activities. The role is ideal for compassionate, patient individuals who find fulfillment in helping others grow and thrive. It also offers job stability, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting the value Sevita places on its employees.

Employment with Sevita through REM Community Services includes a competitive hourly wage starting at $20.55 for those with less than one year of relevant experience, and $21.65 for employees with one or more years, as dictated by the union collective bargaining agreement. The position supports career advancement through robust training and development programs, ensuring caregivers have the tools needed to succeed and grow professionally. Full-time employees additionally benefit from paid time off, holiday pay, and a 401(k) plan with a 3% company match, underscoring the employer’s commitment to both personal and financial well-being.

Joining REM Community Services as a caregiver means becoming part of a network of support, where supervisors are deeply invested in the wellbeing of both participants and employees. This environment offers not just job security but a sense of purpose and pride in rewarding work that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. For individuals seeking a meaningful, stable career within a caring and dynamic organization, Sevita provides an outstanding opportunity to thrive and grow in the human services field.
