Job Description
ResCare Community Living, a vital part of the Sevita family, has been dedicated to empowering individuals and enhancing independence since 1974. As a leading provider in the field of home and community-based specialized health care, the company focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live more independently both at home and within their communities. With over four decades of experience and a compassionate, skilled team, ResCare Community Living offers person-centered services that promote skill development, overcome challenges, and nurture each individual's full potential. The organization believes everyone deserves to live a full, independent life and strives to provide quality, individualized supports designed to foster growth and improve quality of life regardless of the physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges faced.
This opportunity is for a Non-exempt, full-time or part-time direct support professional role that is an hourly position, offering $17.75 per hour. The position primarily involves supporting 4 to 6 individuals in residential settings, or up to 10 individuals in periodic programs. Key aspects of the role include delivering tailored support aligned with individual service and program plans, which cover socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, skill and behavioral development. The role extends to assisting with daily activities such as personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, and citizenship tasks. This essential position requires dedication to accurately documenting progress and activities, maintaining confidentiality, managing individuals' assets responsibly within budget preferences, fostering positive and professional relationships with individuals and their families, reporting any abuse or neglect, and helping individuals exercise their rights.
The health care responsibilities involve accompanying individuals to medical appointments, administrating or supporting medication intake, monitoring health, coordinating with nurses or supervisors as needed, managing medical supplies, and assisting with meal preparation following specific dietary requirements. Employment responsibilities also include attending trainings, adhering to schedules, working collaboratively with colleagues, promoting workplace safety, and maintaining a clean and safe environment through regular housekeeping and maintenance duties. The role may involve transporting individuals, where strict adherence to safety regulations and local laws is required. Employees are expected to perform various other duties as needed and use mobile punch authorized timekeeping.
ResCare Community Living does not involve supervisory responsibilities for this role, concentrating instead on direct support functions. The ideal candidate will be a minimum of 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, and six months of experience in human services is also preferred. A valid driver's license in good standing, along with appropriate car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation, is required. Employees must complete all state-required training and certifications within mandated timeframes and maintain eligibility to drive per company policy. The work environment primarily involves program locations and community settings, with the physical requirement of performing heavy work that may include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Sevita, ResCare’s parent company, supports over 50,000 individuals across the U.S. with a robust team of 40,000 employees committed to innovation and compassionate care. As an equal opportunity employer, ResCare is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, ensuring no discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, citizenship, or any other protected characteristic. This role provides an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, contributing to their independence and quality of life while being part of a supportive and mission-driven organization.
