Job Description

REM Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, is a dedicated provider of community-based services catering to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a compassionate and mission-driven organization, REM Community Services operates under the Sevita umbrella which has been a leader in specialized health care for over 50 years. Sevita’s core philosophy centers around the belief that every individual has the right to live well, and everyone deserves to have a fulfilling career. They focus on delivering quality, individualized support that fosters growth, independence, and an enriched quality of life for people facing physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges.

Sevita serves over 50,000 individuals nationwide with a committed team of 40,000 employees who continually innovate to improve the care and support experiences. Being part of this organization means joining a stable, established company that values community, respect, and inclusion, emphasizing equal opportunity for all regardless of background or personal characteristics.

As a caregiver at Sevita through REM Community Services, you will embark on a rewarding career path where your support directly impacts the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. This position requires compassion, patience, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with participants to help them fulfill their personal goals. Your daily responsibilities will include assisting with personal hygiene, supporting developmental goals such as budgeting, exercise, and nutrition, and helping individuals engage fully in their communities by participating in activities that bring them joy.

The role encourages a high level of autonomy and trust from leadership, allowing you to take initiative and cater to the specific needs of each participant. You’ll be entrusted with ensuring that individuals are supported with dignity and respect as they pursue their independence and personal growth. Working as a caregiver here is more than just a job; it’s a chance to make a tangible difference while developing skills in communication, adaptability, and care coordination.

The compensation for the role is competitive and guided by a union collective bargaining agreement. Starting pay rates are $20.55 per hour for individuals with less than one year of relevant experience, and $21.65 per hour for those with one or more years. Full-time employees benefit from a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k) plan with a 3% company match, paid time off, and holiday pay. Sevita also provides tools and training to support your professional growth and ensure you have a fulfilling career in human services.

Joining REM Community Services means becoming part of a supportive network with supervisors who are deeply invested in your wellbeing and success. The company culture fosters job security and commitment to learning, making it an ideal workplace for individuals passionate about direct care and community services. If you are compassionate, responsible, and reliable, this role offers a promising future in an established and expanding organization that truly values every person’s potential and contributions.
