The Life Skills Trainer Supervisor role at ResCare Community Living is a vital leadership position that focuses on guiding and mentoring Life Skills Trainers (LST) within both residential settings and community environments. This role entails direct service delivery to program participants, ensuring that the company’s mission is upheld through person-centered care, comprehensive training, and adherence to individualized plans. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, providing leadership during shifts, and fostering an atmosphere of respect and growth for participants and staff alike.

The successful candidate will lead Life Skills Trainers by promoting best practices in training and behavior management, developing and implementing therapeutic goals, and maintaining compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Responsibilities include coaching staff, supervising documentation processes, handling staffing adjustments, and managing incident investigations to ensure a safe and supportive environment. In addition, the Life Skills Trainer Supervisor plays a critical role in performance evaluations, staff scheduling, orientation, and continued training, contributing directly to the high standards of care ResCare Community Living is known for.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in direct services related to human services or a similar field. Candidates must hold current CPR/First Aid certification and possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and registration if transportation of participants is involved. The role includes medium physical work demands and occasional travel, underscoring the need for a dedicated and capable leader who can thrive in a dynamic environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years’ experience in providing direct services in the human services field
  • current driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services
  • current CPR/First Aid certification as required
  • travel required as needed
  • ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently, medium work physical demands

Job Duties

  • Participates in client training to assure client objectives and company goals are achieved
  • participates in community outings and house orientation for new employees
  • serves as a role model to house staff assuring documentation is completed accurately and timely
  • replaces, reassigns, or cancels staffing assignments as needed
  • facilitates residential staff problem solving
  • provides direct residential staff supervision
  • initiates residential staff corrective action interventions when required
  • coordinates and completes participant and staff accident, injury, and incident report investigations
  • assumes immediate leadership role in implementing personal intervention, active treatment, and crisis prevention during shifts and community outings
  • completes mandatory training including annual, semi-annual refresher, and re-certification courses
  • assists with house staffing needs and staff recruitment
  • reviews client progress, coordinates and implements shift objectives, and makes recommendations to supervisor
  • provides delivery of services such as skills training, job coaching, and behavior management per Individual Plan
  • coaches and leads Life Skills Trainers to meet therapeutic goals and facilitate respectful program delivery
  • ensures adherence to company policies and compliance with regulatory statutes and standards
  • performs other delegated duties as assigned
