Job Description
The University of South Carolina (UofSC) is a prestigious public research university system that spans the state of South Carolina, impacting communities from the Upstate to the Lowcountry through its eight institutions and 20 campus locations. With more than 50,000 students enrolled, the university system includes a research campus in Columbia and comprehensive four-year campuses in Aiken, Upstate, and Beaufort. Additionally, Palmetto College campuses offer opportunities for students to earn associate or bachelor's degrees through a blend of in-person, online, and blended learning formats. The University prioritizes service and community engagement to build healthier, more educated communities across South Carolina and beyond, fostering an environment of innovation, inclusion, and academic excellence.
The University of South Carolina is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the Director of IT Events Planning and Branding within its Division of Information Technology. This full-time position plays a critical role in crafting and executing innovative technology-focused events that connect the IT division with the broader university community. Events range from Educational Technology Symposiums to AI and security showcases, along with dynamic training experiences designed to engage and inspire faculty, staff, and students. Beyond managing event logistics, the Director is charged with defining and elevating the IT division's brand through cohesive visual identity and compelling digital storytelling that highlight the transformative power of technology in teaching, learning, and research at the university.
The role demands a blend of strategic event design, creative marketing, and collaborative outreach. The Director will partner with campus leadership, academic units, and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution aligned with university goals. By driving customer engagement and promoting IT services through innovative digital communications, this leader is instrumental in broadening visibility and reinforcing the division’s impact across the university system. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of educational technology by building meaningful connections and championing technological innovation at a major public university.
Key responsibilities include leading large-scale IT events, developing and maintaining a unified brand identity through visual and digital media, coordinating budgets and vendor relationships, and enhancing engagement through storytelling and outreach campaigns. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in event management, marketing, and branding—preferably within higher education or technology sectors—along with strong project management skills, effective communication, and a collaborative approach to partnership building.
Joining the University of South Carolina means becoming part of a forward-thinking, energetic environment dedicated to innovation in teaching and student success. The position offers career growth potential through high-visibility initiatives, the chance to work with passionate professionals across IT and academic units, and the ability to shape a recognizable, lasting brand within a vibrant university community. The University provides competitive benefits including health, life, and retirement plans, paid tuition and dependent scholarships, paid leave, professional development opportunities, and a dynamic workplace located in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to make a meaningful impact in higher education technology and event branding.
