The role of Dining Service Director at Avista Senior Living is a vital position that directly impacts the residents' dining experience and overall quality of life. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in food service management
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal health regulations
- Ability to work a full-time schedule
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Willingness to assist in hands-on duties when necessary
- Basic computer skills for scheduling and reporting
- Commitment to maintaining quality standards and compliance
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree desired
- Food and Beverage Manager experience
- Experience working in senior living is a plus
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to develop and implement training and operational procedures
- Proficient in scheduling and staff evaluation

Job Duties
- Manages food supplies and personnel to ensure that operations for areas of responsibility are performed efficiently within the established budget and in compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations and Five Star policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Manage, schedule, evaluate, and direct the kitchen staff
- Ensure a sanitary dining room complying with all health and safety codes, licensing regulations, and policies and procedures regarding the proper handling and serving of food
- Supervise and direct the cleaning of all dining and food services
- Develop and implement training, policies, and processes to ensure that kitchen staff members are properly groomed, dressed, and using proper etiquette and manners while waiting tables courteously
- Survey residents to determine their satisfaction levels with the service provided and make corrections as necessary
- Assist Servers, Cooks, and other Dining Services associates in their job duties and assume their activities when needed
- Ensure that all residents are greeted and seated properly, making extra efforts to integrate new residents making them feel welcome and comfortable
- Supervise the tracking of resident attendance at meals and communicate to designated associates, those residents that have not come to the dining room for meals (for a safety check)
- Aid in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, dress, and behavior
