Job Requirements
- Possess a Food Service Manager Certificate or meet all regulatory requirements to hold such a position
- Have working knowledge of ordering, storing, preparation, and serving food in a food service environment, preferably senior care
- High school graduate
- Experience in dining services with management or leadership duties
- ServSafe certified
- Strong customer service skills with effective communication abilities
- Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
- Good leadership and supervisory skills
- Understanding of nutritional needs and challenges of assisted living residents
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently during the day
- Able to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects up to 20 feet
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Maintain a neat and clean public appearance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Service Manager Certificate or equivalent regulatory certification
- ServSafe certification
- Proven management and leadership experience in dining services, preferably in senior care
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of nutritional needs and challenges of assisted living residents
- Ability to train and develop staff
- Organizational and multitasking abilities
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service
Job Duties
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position, the department, and the personnel
- Maintains knowledge of current and updated health laws and regulations pertaining to city/county and state codes
- Directs and assists in the preparation and serving of meals to residents, associates, and guests
- Hires, trains, and supervises dining services staff to ensure proper preparation of food in compliance with policies and proper storage and handling of raw food and supplies
- Prepares monthly menus suitable to the dietary needs of the residents and ensures food is prepared and served according to sanitation standards
- Ensures meals are served on schedule with no more than a 14-hour span between the evening meal and breakfast
- Provides an evening snack of nutritional value to residents who desire it
- Maintains copies of menus as served for at least three months
- Ensures food service areas and equipment meet sanitation requirements set by federal, state, and local health regulations
- Orders all raw food, supplies, and equipment through approved vendors and maintains accurate inventory
- Maintains quality standards and stays within budget for food, supplies, and labor hours
- Manages food service department according to personnel policies
- Controls food portions served and monitors consumption
- Prepares and posts menus in the kitchen
- Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program for dining services equipment
- Attends all required staff meetings and in-services
- Meets and visits with all new residents within four days of move-in
- Familiarizes with each resident's specific dietary requests and changes
- Provides excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and staff
- Follows confidentiality policies regarding resident information
- Recognizes special dietary needs in Harmony Square and trains staff accordingly
- Conducts monthly food committee meetings with resident representatives
- Plans, organizes, assists, and supervises dining services for marketing functions
- Sets up and conducts in-service training for dining services staff
- May supervise and conduct training sessions for other staff as assigned
