The Dining Server role at Cedarhurst is a vital position responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience for senior residents and their guests. This role demands courteous and efficient table service that meets the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. The Dining Server supports daily meal service and special events by assisting with food preparation, cost control, and maintaining dining areas that are both welcoming and sanitary. This role plays a key part in upholding Cedarhurst's dining standards by working collaboratively with other team members and communicating effectively with residents and their families to meet individual dining preferences and needs. The Dining Server ensures a positive, safe dining environment reflective of the organization's dedication to quality service and resident wellbeing. Duties include assisting with catering, room service, and events; promptly taking and delivering food and beverage orders; maintaining impeccable sanitation protocols; preparing and resetting tables; adhering to food safety regulations; safely operating kitchen equipment; applying basic math skills for dining-related tasks; and contributing to cost-control efforts by minimizing waste. The position involves physical activities such as walking, standing for extended periods, occasional stooping or kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds independently, and balancing safety with infection prevention protocols through proper use of personal protective equipment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to two years of experience in dining service or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and ability to follow sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Willingness to follow infection control and PPE protocols
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to two years of prior experience preferred, with senior living experience strongly desired
  • Relevant state or county licensure preferred, with ability to obtain licensure if required
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common digital tools and applications including Microsoft Office, web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and HR-related systems

Job Duties

  • Assist with catering, room service, special events, and marketing functions ensuring smooth execution and resident satisfaction
  • Promptly take food and beverage orders and deliver service to residents and guests in a courteous, accurate, and efficient manner
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area by washing pots, pans, and utensils used in meal preparation, following all food safety standards
  • Clear, sanitize, and reset tables
  • dispose of trash and clean containers
  • and complete daily checklists to ensure kitchen and dining areas are consistently maintained
  • Assist with cleaning dining areas, including floors, tables, and chairs after meals and events, and ensure sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping are completed at the end of each shift
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned responsibilities and adapt service to meet individual resident dining preferences and needs
  • Support cost-control efforts by minimizing waste and using supplies responsibly
