The role of Dining Services Server at Covenant Living is an essential position within the dining and hospitality team. This role is primarily responsible for delivering prompt, courteous, and professional service to residents, guests, and staff during meal times. The position requires attentiveness to detail and excellent hospitality skills to ensure a pleasant dining experience in the Dining Room, Bistro, meetings, and special events. This is a hands-on role involving serving food, bussing and resetting tables, assisting with light food preparation such as salads and desserts, and supporting the set-up of special events. The Dining Services Server must adhere strictly to sanitation guidelines and health regulations specific to senior living and healthcare settings, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards at all times.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Must have at least one year of food service experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Must be dependable and detail oriented
  • Must be able to work within standard policies and procedures
  • Ability to follow safety practices and instructions
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Must be able to lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel, or crouch during job duties
  • Adequate sight and hearing
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance in compliance with food code standards
  • Ability to follow dress code and kitchen uniform requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • One year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning, kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal prep preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Cordial and congenial with residents
  • Dependable and detail oriented
  • Ability to follow standard policy and procedures with limited supervision

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables
  • Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the Dining Room or Bistro
  • Bus and reset tables as needed
  • Prepare salad bar items for lunch including filling salad bar with ice and setting plates and bowls
  • Prepare and stage desserts
  • Assist in light food prep for special events
  • Assist in setting up meetings and other special events including delivery of snacks, coffee, and tea
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • Open and close dining rooms as needed
