The Dining Server role at Cedarhurst Senior Living is essential to delivering an outstanding dining experience for both residents and guests. This position involves providing courteous, efficient, and personalized table service while maintaining strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. The server is responsible for contributing to a warm dining environment that enhances resident wellbeing and satisfaction. Key responsibilities include taking accurate food and beverage orders, assisting during catering events and room service, and ensuring dining areas are clean and welcoming. The role requires close collaboration with kitchen and service team members to uphold high standards of quality, cost control, and efficient food preparation. Dining Servers also engage directly with residents and families, tailoring service to meet individual preferences and dietary needs. This customer-focused approach helps foster positive relationships and supports the physical, personal, and emotional health of residents. The Dining Server must be knowledgeable about Cedarhurst's menus, safety protocols, and operating procedures. Additionally, physical stamina is necessary as the role may involve extended walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • up to two years of relevant experience preferred
  • ability to obtain state or county licensure if required
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred
  • proficiency with digital tools including Microsoft Office
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • capability to lift up to fifty pounds independently and up to two hundred pounds with assistance
  • adherence to infection prevention and control protocols including PPE use
  • effective communication skills
  • willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • up to two years of prior experience preferred, with senior living experience strongly desired
  • relevant state or county licensure preferred, with the ability to obtain licensure if required by the state in which employed
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred
  • demonstrated proficiency in common digital tools and applications, including Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word), web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and any HR-related systems as applicable

Job Duties

  • Assist with catering, room service, special events, and marketing functions, ensuring smooth execution and resident satisfaction
  • promptly take food and beverage orders and deliver service to residents and guests in a courteous, accurate, and efficient manner
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work area by washing pots, pans, and utensils used in meal preparation, following all food safety standards
  • clear, sanitize, and reset tables
  • dispose of trash and clean containers
  • and complete daily checklists to ensure kitchen and dining areas are consistently maintained
  • assist with cleaning dining areas, including floors, tables, and chairs after meals and events, and ensure sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping are completed at the end of each shift
  • maintain knowledge of assigned responsibilities and adapt service to meet individual resident dining preferences and needs
  • support cost-control efforts by minimizing waste and using supplies responsibly
