The Dining Room Server role at Loretto is pivotal in delivering an enjoyable and fulfilling dining experience to residents. Serving as the primary point of contact between residents and the dining services team, the Dining Room Server is responsible for taking meal orders, serving meals promptly and courteously, and ensuring that the dining area is always clean, well-set, and meets the high standards expected by Loretto. This position is not only about food service but also about creating a pleasant atmosphere where residents feel respected and cared for during their meals.
The server will execute tasks such as setting tables according to specified diagrams, clearing and resetting tables efficiently after each meal, and assisting with catered events. Attention to detail and adherence to cleanliness and sanitization protocols are essential parts of this role, as the server will be responsible for cleaning equipment like tables, chairs, steam tables, and various kitchen appliances to maintain hygiene and safety. The server also handles room service needs, including answering calls and delivering trays directly to residents’ rooms.
Beyond the physical responsibilities, the Dining Room Server acts as a representative of Loretto’s dedication to excellent customer service. The role involves practicing safety awareness consistently, reporting potential safety or environmental hazards, and demonstrating flexibility to accommodate special events that may occur during weekends, evenings, or holidays. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with residents, family members, coworkers, and visitors, serving as a role model for kindness, professionalism, and respect.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or completion of written TABE test required
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
- Ability to carry trays and take orders from residents and guests
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift
- Manual dexterity sufficient to carry trays and take orders from residents and guests
- Ability to operate vacuum cleaner, dish machine, blenders and use small knives
- Speech and hearing sufficient for constant in-person and telephone communication
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or completion of written TABE test required
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
- Strong communication skills
Job Duties
- Ensures tables are set correctly according to diagram provided, cleared and re-set after each meal
- Completes assigned daily and weekly side work according to side work sheets
- Restocks condiments, seasonings and supplies on a daily basis
- Courteously takes and serves orders in courses, using excellent customer service skills
- Clears each course before next course is brought out
- May serve food according to consumption charts, if applicable
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment such as tables, chairs, steam tables, toasters, coolers, ice cream freezers and beverage machines
