The role of Dining Room Wait Staff at River Mills Assisted Living is an integral part of the community’s commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences to its residents. As a part-time position, this role requires a compassionate and courteous individual dedicated to creating a restaurant-style, personalized dining atmosphere. The Dining Room Wait Staff is responsible for covering all aspects of table-side service including meal preparation assistance, side work, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of all dining and food service areas. This position plays a key role in enhancing resident satisfaction by enabling effective communication with residents, their families, and guests to relay feedback to the Food Service Director.

In addition to serving food and beverages, the Dining Room Wait Staff assists new residents in becoming familiar with the menus, seating, dining options, and hours, while remaining sensitive to the challenges of aging that some residents may face. This position demands patience, empathy, and a strong sense of teamwork. It requires close collaboration with other team members and adherence to established dining protocols and health standards such as those set by ServSafe and the Board of Health. Employees in this role are expected to be reliable, punctual, and proactive in responding to the needs and concerns of residents and their guests. Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of dining room or restaurant wait staff experience
  • Knowledge of food handling and safety standards
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to respectfully resolve customer dissatisfaction
  • Able to build positive relationships with others
  • Dedicated to providing courteous, compassionate customer service
  • Able to multitask
  • Physically able to move up to 50lbs
  • Physically able to bend, reach and work in small areas
  • Physically able to push and pull equipment and furnishings
  • Physically able to stand for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of successful dining room or restaurant wait staff experience
  • Working knowledge of food handling and safety standards

  • Able to build positive relationships with employees, coworkers, residents, families and guests

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities

Job Duties

  • Provide a high level of courteous, compassionate customer service and promote a restaurant-style personalized dining atmosphere
  • Work closely with the food service director to promote resident satisfaction with food and dining programs by communicating concerns, suggestions and compliments from residents, families and guests
  • Create a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation among all staff
  • Assist new residents by familiarizing them with the menus, seating, dining options and hours
  • Be understanding with and compassionate to the challenges of aging that residents, families and/or guests may be facing
  • Set tables in accordance with standards
  • Serve beverages as requested by residents and guests
  • Be familiar with the daily menu, answer questions, record and deliver meal orders accurately and timely
  • Remove used or soiled plates, utensils, glasses, and linens from tables
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of dining areas and equipment
  • Respond to resident, family, guest comments and communicate to the Food Service Director
  • Accept direction from shift supervisor when Food Service Director is absent
  • Work assigned shifts with timely arrival and departure
  • Follow protocols, policies and practices established by HallKeen Assisted Living, Food Service Director, ServSafe, and Board of Health
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned
