This part-time, non-management position is a Front Desk Host/Hostess role at The Ritz-Carlton Miami. As a Front Desk Host/Hostess, the primary responsibility includes greeting guests warmly and determining the number of guests in their party to seat them effectively. The role involves finding clean and available tables, pulling out chairs, and placing clean or current menus in front of guests. Hosts will guide guests through the dining rooms, assist with special seating arrangements for groups with unique needs, and ensure that place settings are impeccable with napkins, clean silverware, and other necessary items. Maintaining the cleanliness of work areas and practicing clean-as-you-go procedures is an essential duty throughout the shift. The Host/Hostess will monitor dining rooms to oversee seating availability, service quality, guest safety, and overall guest well-being. This role is central to upholding The Ritz-Carlton’s renowned Gold Standards by ensuring each guest receives courteous and thoughtful service from the moment they enter the dining area.
The position requires following all company safety and security policies, reporting accidents or unsafe conditions, and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Communication skills are vital as this role includes welcoming guests according to company standards, answering telephones with proper etiquette, and maintaining positive relationships with team members to support common goals. The role also requires physical capabilities such as standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance. While this position does not require prior related work or supervisory experience, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence and a willingness to uphold the highest standards of service and professionalism.
