Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences across its wide range of hotel brands. Among its prestigious portfolio, JW Marriott represents the luxury segment, featuring over 100 stunning hotels in prominent cities and prime resort locations worldwide. JW Marriott places a strong emphasis on employee well-being, fostering a culture where associates are valued, empowered, and respected to ensure they can deliver the best service to guests. Marriott International is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and embraces a diverse workforce, encouraging a welcoming environment for all. The company provides numerous benefits aimed at supporting employees' careers and personal lives, including training, development, recognition programs, and holistic wellness initiatives.
This full-time, non-management position is based at the JW Marriott location at 2121 S Prairie Ave, Chicago, Illinois. The role is part of the Food and Beverage & Culinary department and offers an hourly wage of $15.75, with tip eligibility included. The schedule requires flexibility, with availability preferred on weekends and holidays to best meet the operational needs of the hotel.
The role primarily involves completing closing duties, including properly storing reusable merchandise, dismantling and cleaning all equipment and areas, securing refrigeration units with locks, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and filling out daily cleaning checklists. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential throughout the day, which includes inspecting the cleanliness and presentation of china, glassware, and silverware prior to use. The associate must adhere to all company health and safety policies, promptly report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries, and complete required safety training and certifications.
In addition to physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and handling objects under 50 pounds, this role requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and performing activities such as reaching, bending, twisting, and navigating uneven surfaces and staircases. Communication skills are important, as the position involves greeting and recognizing guests according to company standards and interacting clearly and professionally with colleagues and telephone callers.
This role demands personal presentation aligned with company standards, including a clean and professional uniform and appearance. It promotes teamwork, respect towards fellow coworkers, and support towards team goals, all within the framework of Marriott's commitment to quality assurance standards. While no prior supervisory experience or certifications are required, a high school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous experience in food service environments is valued but not mandatory.
Joining JW Marriott means becoming part of an iconic hospitality brand where you can perform at your best, fulfill your purpose, be part of a phenomenal global team, and grow into your best self. The company culture fosters camaraderie, innovation, and genuine care for both guests and employees. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the legacy of Marriott while receiving industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities, making it ideal for candidates seeking a rewarding career in luxury hospitality.
