The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is vital to maintaining the high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation in the preparation and delivery of food services. This position supports the food service manager in a variety of operational tasks including meal preparation, maintaining cash receipts, and documenting meal records to ensure accurate and efficient service delivery. The role involves preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, ensuring proper storage and sanitation of food items, and adhering strictly to food safety regulations. The Food Service Worker is expected to oversee the use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives, maintain cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen, and assist in major cleaning tasks of cooking and serving equipment.

In addition, the Food Service Worker must manage food temperature requirements, serve food according to scheduled meal times and departmental policies, and ensure that garnishments are added to meals to improve visual appeal and customer satisfaction. This role requires the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication skills. Physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing is part of the daily routine, and the use of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory to maintain a safe working environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food service experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Capability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods
  • Compliance with uniform and personal protective equipment policies
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • Food Service Certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • Understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • Timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages
  • Add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • Coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • Handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing
  • Use uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
