Job Description

The hiring establishment is a vibrant diner operating within the foodservice industry, dedicated to providing quality meals and excellent customer service in a welcoming environment. This diner is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient dining area where patrons can enjoy a variety of freshly prepared food items. Situated within a bustling community, the diner thrives on creating rapport and engaging positively with its customers, ensuring that each visit is memorable and satisfying. As a reputable establishment in the region, the diner prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and the professionalism of its dedicated staff.

The role available is that of a Diner Attendant, a crucial front-line position responsible for greeting customers, preparing food orders, maintaining cleanliness, and handling data entry efficiently. This position requires a diligent and customer-focused individual who can work between 15 to 35 hours per week, primarily during diner operating hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. This is a nonexempt role, meaning overtime work is possible and may be required depending on the diner’s needs.

The Diner Attendant acts as the face of the diner, warmly welcoming customers and actively engaging to develop rapport, which enhances the overall customer experience. Key responsibilities include taking food orders and payments, as well as assembling a variety of food items including salads, sandwiches, wraps, and pizzas. This role also involves preparing meals to go, serving beverages, and keeping food items well stocked throughout operating hours. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness is essential, as the attendant will regularly wipe down counters and clean dishes in accordance with local health standards.

Beyond these front-of-house duties, the Diner Attendant also plays a vital role in administrative support by entering data related to employee transactions, new hires, and customer orders. This combination of food preparation, customer service, and data entry demands excellent communication skills, efficiency, and a professional appearance. Candidates with prior food preparation experience are preferred, emphasizing the importance of both skill and speed in a fast-paced environment. Strong keyboarding and 10-key input abilities are necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness in data handling.

Working indoors near the diner’s front door, the attendant will encounter moderate physical requirements including frequent standing, reaching, squatting, occasional lifting up to 35 pounds, and frequent use of hand dexterity. The role also involves operating in environments with occasional noise, odors, dust, and fumes. A valid Kansas Driver’s License with an acceptable motor vehicle record is required due to company policy. This position provides an excellent opportunity to join a friendly team dedicated to quality dining service and customer satisfaction in a dynamic and customer-centered setting.
