Job Description
Trillium Family Services is a well-established nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment and family services that support children and families in building brighter futures. The organization is committed to culturally and linguistically diverse governance, leadership, and workforce, operating as a drug-free workplace with a mission-driven approach to community care. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity and equal opportunity, Trillium Family Services fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment where employees can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the organization's goals. The agency offers ongoing training and professional development, ensuring staff are equipped to deliver the highest quality services in a respectful and compassionate setting.
The Dietary Services Supervisor position at Trillium Family Services offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in managing the dietary needs of a busy treatment facility. This full-time, 40-hour per week role located in Portland requires a supervisor to oversee centralized menu planning, related purchasing, food preparation, and the serving of meals to clients, staff, and during special events. The position starts at a competitive rate of $23.56 per hour, depending on the candidate's experience, and includes a work schedule tailored to meet the needs of the department.
As a Dietary Services Supervisor, the individual will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness within the kitchen and common areas of the building. This leadership role demands a strong commitment to mission-focused work, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The supervisor will also be expected to contribute actively to teamwork, while managing day-to-day operations efficiently and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and certification requirements such as Food Handler's Certificate and knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
The role is ideal for someone with solid experience in large-scale cooking operations, including a minimum of five years as a cook and at least one year in a supervisory capacity over meal preparation for groups of 50 or more people. The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and demonstrate flexibility in taking on diverse tasks and responsibilities. Trillium Family Services values individuals who seek meaningful work with opportunities for career growth within a supportive and dynamic team environment. The agency is committed to equity in compensation in compliance with Oregon’s Equal Pay Law, ensuring fair salary offers based on experience and education.
In addition to the competitive pay, the organization provides an array of excellent benefits including 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental insurance for full-time employees, a 401k retirement plan with matching contributions, generous vacation and sick leave, opportunities for continuing education and professional development, and free meals while on duty. This role offers not only a chance to advance one’s career in dietary services but also the reward of working in a purpose-driven organization dedicated to making a positive impact on families and communities.
Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly as the position is subject to ongoing review and may close shortly after posting. Trillium Family Services supports reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities throughout the application and employment process to ensure equitable access. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-centered organization and contribute directly to the wellbeing of children and families through effective dietary management and leadership.
