The role of Full Time Dietary Manager at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge is a vital leadership position within the Culinary Department. Reporting directly to the facility administrator, the Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations to ensure that food services meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and resident satisfaction. This includes managing hiring processes, addressing disciplinary actions, creating and maintaining work schedules, and controlling food costs through effective item specifications and menu development.

The Dietary Manager’s role extends to enforcing health and sanitation standards rigorously while maintaining comprehensive record keeping. A key aspect of the job is to create a welcoming dining environment that supports resident enjoyment and nutrition, communicating clearly with residents about menu options and dietary provisions. To succeed, the manager must demonstrate exceptional knowledge, skills, and a positive attitude that consistently promotes resident-centered care. The role also requires flexibility and cross-training as a Universal Worker, involving housekeeping and personal care duties to support residents thoroughly.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of culinary management experience
  • healthcare experience preferred
  • ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see
  • ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • must be flexible to perform additional duties as needed

Job Duties

  • Provide resident centered care consistently
  • Develop friendly and courteous relationships with residents and co-workers
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents’ personal information
  • Prepare food and drink items following standard formulas or directions
  • Explain and guide residents on cost and contents of selections and provide alternative options
  • Manage stock by putting away, replenishing, and rotating items to use older stock first
  • Ensure health guidelines and sanitation policies are followed by employees and guests in dining areas
  • Control conduct of employees and residents to prevent loss, theft, spills, and cross contamination
  • Maintain control of product flow and employees
  • Perform cleaning duties in front and back café areas throughout the workday
  • Cross-train in housekeeping and personal care functions as a Universal Worker
  • Be flexible to accept other duties as assigned
  • Perform additional duties assigned by supervisor or management
