The position available is for a full-time Dietary Cook/Kitchen Prep. This role is vital to the center’s mission as it ensures that high-quality, nutritious, and appealing meals are prepared and served to residents in accordance with health and safety regulations. The Dietary Cook/Kitchen Prep is tasked with maintaining a clean and safe dining services environment, adhering strictly to facility policies and federal and state regulations. This position comes with a competitive starting wage accompanied by additional pay for experience, highlighting the company’s commitment to rewarding skilled staff. In this role, the Dietary Cook/Kitchen Prep will be responsible for preparing meals based on standardized recipes, ensuring proper portion sizes, recording food temperatures, and supervising dining aides when necessary. Timeliness is crucial, with meals being ready and service started punctually. The role also requires engaging with residents to gather feedback on meals, following strict food safety temperature regulations, and maintaining hygiene by cleaning food service equipment and work areas. Additional duties include replenishing supplies, sweeping and mopping floors, and opening the kitchen at the start of shifts. Active participation in ongoing education, meetings, and staff in-services is expected, alongside strict adherence to confidentiality protocols and infection control measures.

  • Be able to work harmoniously with Dining Services staff and all other facility personnel
  • Requires judgment in prioritizing the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance
  • Patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and a willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity and physical level in which they are currently functioning
  • Ability to adhere to professional code of ethics
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food products according to standardized recipes and menus
  • Ensure proper preparation, portioning and serving of foods according to standardized recipes
  • Maintain and record assigned temperatures daily
  • Direct and supervise Dining Aides when needed
  • Have food ready at the specified time and begin meal service on time
  • Occasionally visit residents in dining rooms to gather their feedback regarding the meal served
  • Follow temperature regulations in preparing, serving and storing foods
  • Clean food service equipment after use
  • Complete other assigned cleaning per posted department cleaning schedule
  • Ensure supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Be responsible for opening kitchen, if needed, turning on lights, unlocking/starting equipment
  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, department meetings and all staff in-services
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure resident rights and privacy are protected at all times
  • Comply with safety requirements, infection control measures, and maintain a clean work environment
