This Contract to Hire position based in Pittsburgh, PA, offers an exciting opportunity to join a compassionate and dedicated team as a Dietary Aide / Cook working AM and PM shifts. The role is integral to creating a positive and nurturing dining experience for residents in a healthcare community. In this position, the successful candidate will prepare, cook, and serve meals that are nutritious, safe, and tailored to meet individual dietary needs while supporting the comfort and dignity of the residents. The Dietary Aide / Cook will work closely with residents, families, and healthcare staff to ensure every meal aligns with medical and therapeutic diet plans while maintaining exceptional hygiene and food safety standards.
The role demands a strong customer-service mindset and the ability to work cooperatively with departments to foster a warm and respectful environment. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- prepare and cook meals following menus, diet plans, recipes, portion guidelines, and food-safety standards
- serve therapeutic and special diets tailored to individual resident needs
- run the tray line ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper presentation
- manage food and supplies including labeling, rotation, receiving, and storage
- follow sanitation and safety protocols including infection control and universal precautions
- clean and maintain kitchen areas to keep the environment safe and hygienic
- support dietary staff with guidance during orientation and in-service training
- process diet changes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- respond to resident needs courteously and promptly
- observe and report resident changes including incidents or behavioral changes
- uphold resident rights with kindness, dignity, and respect
- maintain documentation according to community standards
- support AM and PM operations including early-morning cook shifts and weekends
