Job Description
Viva Senior Living is a reputable and compassionate senior living community dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults by providing exceptional care and supportive services. The company focuses on fostering a warm, respectful, and caring environment that upholds the dignity and rights of its residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being each day. As a well-established organization in the senior care industry, Viva Senior Living emphasizes compliance with all federal, state, and local health regulations while maintaining a nurturing atmosphere. This commitment extends to every aspect of its services, from food preparation to resident care, embodying a mission to serve residents and their families with compassion and respect throughout their journey with the community.
The role of Server/Dietary Aide within Viva Senior Living's Dietary Department is a vital position that supports the food service operations ensuring that residents receive nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals in line with health and sanitation regulations. Reporting directly to the Food Service Director, the successful candidate will be an essential team member who consistently demonstrates a high level of care, professionalism, and adherence to the Resident Bill of Rights. This position requires an individual with a minimum of a high school diploma or GED who is capable of providing excellent service with compassion and empathy for the elderly residents. The Server/Dietary Aide will be involved in meal preparation, serving, dining room setup, and maintaining sanitary standards and safe working practices within the kitchen and dining spaces.
Additionally, the role encompasses responsibilities such as compliance with federal and local health guidelines, knowledge of safe food handling practices including Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and participation in emergency preparedness activities. The candidate must be willing to work collaboratively with peers in a congenial and supportive atmosphere, maintaining punctuality and upholding the policies detailed in the organization's Employee Handbook. The role may require being on-call during emergency situations such as severe weather or evacuations to ensure continuity of care and safety for residents.
The position of Server/Dietary Aide is more than a food service role; it is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors by delivering meals that not only meet their dietary needs but do so with dignity and respect. Employees in this role are expected to embody the highest standards of confidentiality concerning residents' health information and to report any concerns or breaches in compliance promptly. Physical requirements and the ability to cope with the emotional demands of working with elderly and sometimes agitated residents are integral to this position. Viva Senior Living provides a structured working environment where employees are supported through ongoing training, safety drills, and a clear chain of accountability. This ensures that the highest quality of service is delivered consistently and compassionately at all times, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals passionate about senior care and hospitality to join a respected team dedicated to making a positive impact every day.
