Job Description

Harmony is a reputable senior living community located in Cincinnati, Ohio, dedicated to providing compassionate and professional care to its residents. As a part of the healthcare and senior living industry, Harmony strives to create a comfortable, respectful, and safe environment where residents can enjoy meals and daily activities with dignity and pleasure. The community places a strong emphasis on teamwork, respect, and high standards, supporting employees to develop their skills and enhance their careers within a supportive atmosphere. Harmony offers both full-time and part-time benefits packages, training opportunities, career development programs, and flexible scheduling designed to accommodate various lifestyles and work-life balance needs. The company encourages a respectful interaction between residents, guests, and staff members, prioritizing the wellbeing and satisfaction of everyone involved.

The Server role at Harmony is a vital position in supporting the dining experience of the community's residents and guests. The primary responsibility is to courteously serve meals with attention to detail and a focus on customer satisfaction. This includes assisting residents with menu choices, providing beverage services such as water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea, and refilling condiments like salt, pepper, and sugar before and after meals. The Server also supports additional dining room duties, including clean-up and resetting dining areas after each meal service, ensuring tables and equipment are clean, orderly, and functioning correctly. Understanding sit-down service and proper serving techniques is essential, as is having a basic understanding of food preparation for items like salads and desserts.

Additionally, this role involves knowledge of proper food storage and labeling, maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the kitchen and dining areas, and participating in required in-service training and staff meetings to stay updated on best practices. Attention to the special needs of residents, such as mobility limitations and memory impairments, is crucial for providing compassionate and effective service. The Server is expected to maintain confidentiality concerning resident information and demonstrate polite, considerate interactions with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors consistently.

The position requires physical stamina to stand and walk for up to three hours at a time and the strength to lift and carry heavy objects regularly. Employees must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and maintain a clean uniform and good personal hygiene standards. The work environment fosters teamwork and organizational skills to ensure quality service delivery.
