This community features 61 apartments geared towards assisted living, along with 18 additional units, providing a supportive and comfortable environment for its residents. The Part-Time Dietary Aide position at Prestige Senior Living - Orchard Heights plays a crucial role within the dietary department, supporting food preparation, food service, and maintaining sanitation standards. This role involves assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages, using proper portion control and adhering to sanitation guidelines. The Dietary Aide is responsible for delivering meals to residents in their rooms or dining areas, ensuring that dietary orders and tray cards are accurately followed. The role demands attentiveness to residents’ dietary needs and preferences, ensuring timely and proper service.

In addition to meal service, the Dietary Aide helps maintain cleanliness and sanitation by keeping the kitchen, dining room, and dietary equipment in tip-top condition. This includes washing dishes, operating dishwashers at appropriate temperatures, and managing the proper storage and labeling of food supplies according to state regulations and company policies. Monitoring and recording temperatures of dishwashers and other equipment is another important aspect to ensure food safety and quality. The Dietary Aide also supports fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical safety practices within the facility.

Job Requirements

  • Must have food handler permit as required by the State
  • Available to work 2-3 shifts per week

  • Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic
  • Flexibility to work day, swing, or night shifts as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Food handler permit as required by the State
  • Some high school education preferred
  • Experience in food service or healthcare dietary environment is a plus but not required

Job Duties

  • Assists in the preparation of food and is responsible for serving meals, snacks, and beverages using portion control and applicable sanitation practices
  • Responsible for delivering meals to resident rooms or tables and setting up meal trays in accordance with dietary orders and tray cards
  • Keeps the kitchen, dietary equipment, and dining room clean and sanitary at all times, including work areas and floors
  • Cleans utensils, dishes, and pots and pans by operating the dishwasher or proper handwashing processes
  • Ensures proper storage, rotation, preparation, and labeling of food in accordance with State and local guidelines and company policy
  • Partners with dietary staff to ensure equipment is working properly and at the appropriate temperature
  • Follows facility fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical practices and promptly reports any unsafe conditions
  • Greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously and in a manner that respects dignity, meets confidentiality standards, and promotes resident and staff rights
  • Resets the dining room for the next meal and ensures supplies are available for upcoming meals
  • Assists in storing incoming food and supplies as assigned
  • Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
