The Patient Food Service position at Texas Health Huguley is a vital role that contributes directly to the comfort and satisfaction of patients during their hospital stay. This role is scheduled as PRN (pro re nata), offering day shifts within a flexible work environment. In this role, you will guide patients through the meal ordering process using a computerized diet office system, ensuring that meal selections are not only delicious but aligned with prescribed dietary needs. You'll enhance patient experience by providing personalized meal suggestions, verifying patient identities during meal delivery, and ensuring tray accuracy to meet therapeutic diet guidelines. The position requires physical stamina, including standing for long periods, walking significant distances, and working shifts that may last up to 12 hours. You will be expected to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment while adhering to high standards of patient service and food safety.
Furthermore, this role involves frequent interaction with patients and staff, including rounding on nursing teams to promptly address any foodservice concerns or complaints. You will play an important part in service recovery by taking ownership of issues and working to improve patient satisfaction. This hands-on position not only supports patients’ nutritional needs but also promotes the overall mission of Texas Health Huguley by contributing to an uplifting, healing atmosphere through excellent foodservice delivery. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods
- Capability to work up to 12-hour shifts
- Food Handler Certificate preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Patient foodservice experience preferred
