The position available is a Technician role at Penske, based in Bryan, TX. This role is designed for individuals who have a passion for vehicle repair and maintenance, whether they are entering the field for the first time or have prior experience. As a Technician at Penske, the individual will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse range of vehicles, including both gas and diesel engine-powered equipment. Working with the newest technology and equipment, the Technician will utilize Penske’s proprietary tools and diagnostic software to maintain high standards of safety and vehicle performance. This position offers the chance to grow professionally through hands-on training, coaching, and opportunities to become industry certified through Penske’s Technician Certification Program.

The role promises variety and challenge with no two days being the same. The technician is expected to be mechanically inclined and have a willingness to learn advanced vehicle maintenance technology. Safety, reliability, and quality workmanship are paramount, and technicians work closely with experienced supervisors and master technicians to continually improve skills and knowledge. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to solve problems and use tools
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • basic computer skills
  • ability to comply with company guidelines and safety regulations including DOT and OSHA
  • regular attendance
  • ability to maintain required DOT driver qualification file
  • willingness to work scheduled hours and specific location
  • ability to pass background screening, drug screen, and physical examination
  • ability to work in varied weather conditions
  • ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and up to 100lbs occasionally
  • ability to work safely at heights
  • ability to maintain alertness and safety adherence
  • understanding of responsibility for own and others safety

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to solve problems and comfort using tools
  • excellent customer service skills and communication skills

  • understanding and complying with instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations established by Penske management
  • ability to perform work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies

  • ability to maintain a driver qualification file as regulated by DOT

Job Duties

  • making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • performing preventative maintenance repairs such as replacing or rotating tires, vehicle component lubrication and replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
  • partnering with manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching
  • working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
