Job Description

Penske Truck Leasing/Transportation Solutions is a leading global transportation and logistics provider, known for delivering innovative solutions that help companies and individuals move forward efficiently and reliably. Headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania, Penske operates with a commitment to excellence and customer success, providing a wide range of services including vehicle maintenance, leasing, and transportation solutions. Penske is highly regarded in the industry for its well-maintained fleet, advanced technology, and strong focus on safety and reliability. The company prides itself on fostering growth opportunities and providing a supportive work environment for its employees, making it a top choice for individuals seeking a stable and rewarding career in transportation and vehicle maintenance.

Located at 3520 S Creyts Rd in Lansing, MI, the Penske facility offers a dynamic and clean workplace equipped with major shop tools and advanced vehicle maintenance technology. At Penske, employees receive excellent training through programs like the Technician Certification Program, which is certified as a Continuing Automotive Service Education provider. This program ensures that technicians stay up-to-date with OEM equipment and industry best practices. Penske, known for its diverse fleet, offers technicians the unique opportunity to work with a wide array of vehicles, ensuring no two workdays are the same.

The Technician role at Penske is vital to maintaining the safety and reliability of their fleet. As a Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on both gas and diesel engine vehicles, using state-of-the-art tools and technologies. The role involves conducting basic vehicle diagnostics, replacing or rotating tires, lubricating and replacing vehicle components, and performing some electrical and cooling system repairs. Working closely with experienced supervisors and master technicians, you will receive hands-on coaching and support to continually develop your skills. This position is an excellent fit for those who are mechanically inclined, have some vehicle repair experience or training, and are eager to advance their careers in a stable, growth-oriented environment.

Penske values safety above all, requiring adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and company-specific safety policies. The role is regulated by the DOT, meaning technicians must maintain a driver qualification file with an annual motor vehicle record check, DOT physical, and safety performance history. Penske also ensures technicians have proper personal protective equipment (PPE), appropriate machine guarding, and training in safe work practices. This role demands physical stamina for tasks such as frequent movement, standing, climbing, and lifting heavy objects regularly, sometimes up to 100 pounds or more, emphasizing the need for resilience and physical fitness.

In addition to the technical aspects, Penske technicians are expected to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and comply with company guidelines and regulations. The company offers shift premiums for 2nd and 3rd shifts, competitive starting salaries, and comprehensive benefits including generous time off and career development opportunities, making it an attractive employer for those looking to build a long-term career in vehicle maintenance and repair.
