Job Description
Penske Truck Leasing/Transportation Solutions is a global leader in providing comprehensive transportation, logistics, and technology services aimed at helping companies and individuals advance their mobility and efficiency. Headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania, Penske is widely recognized for its dedication to operational excellence, innovation, and delivering customer satisfaction across a broad spectrum of industries. With a vast and well-maintained fleet of vehicles, Penske stands out as a premier provider in the transportation solutions sector, committed to maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and service quality. This commitment is reflected not only in the company’s equipment but also in its approach to employee development, workplace safety, and technological advancement. The company fosters an environment where employees are encouraged to grow professionally and are supported by continuous training and development programs, particularly in the realm of vehicle maintenance and repair.
At the 107 Saxe Gotha Dr location in West Columbia, South Carolina, Penske is seeking an experienced Technician I to join their team. This role is crafted for a seasoned professional ready to take a leadership position at their location, acting as a master technician who not only performs but also models technical expertise and mentorship for peers. As a Technician I, you will be trusted with performing a wide array of preventative maintenance and repair functions on trucks and trailers, encompassing major components like engines, transmissions, differentials, and fuel systems. The position demands a high level of independence balanced with collaboration and learning under management guidance. The technician will continuously use Penske’s advanced tools and technologies for diagnostics, repairs, and logging work to ensure that each vehicle is safe, well-maintained, and roadworthy.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse equipment from various manufacturers rather than being limited to one brand, which broadens skill development and knowledge. Penske prioritizes not only getting the job done but getting it done safely and accurately, with an emphasis on leaving the work area clean and organized. Employees benefit from Penske’s comprehensive technician certification program, recognized as a provider of continuing automotive service education, along with ongoing training tailored to new vehicle technologies and maintenance methodologies.
Besides professional growth, the position offers competitive compensation, including shift premiums for evening, night, and weekend shifts, career stability, and an impressive benefits package designed to support the health, work-life balance, and financial security of its employees. Penske also emphasizes a clean and well-equipped work environment to help employees perform at their best.
If you have at least six years of practical experience maintaining trucks and tractor-trailers and seek a stable, rewarding career with ample opportunities for advancement, Penske invites you to apply. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer service. Physical endurance and flexibility are essential given the nature of the work environment and the physical demands associated with the tasks. Penske is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to creating an inclusive culture where every associate can thrive.
