Job Description

The role available is for a skilled Medium to Heavy-Duty Truck Technician responsible for maintaining and repairing trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. This position involves diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all vehicles and equipment comply with state and federal regulations. The technician will work mostly independently and will be required to complete accurate documentation of all repairs and maintenance performed using an online Enterprise Asset Management system. The role offers a competitive hourly pay rate up to $33.50 per hour, with additional pay for applicants holding a CDL license. The working hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 pm to 6:30 am, with no weekend shifts, offering a balanced schedule for employees. Performance Foodservice also provides a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 (terms apply), an annual tool allowance of $1,000, an annual safety boot allowance, and benefits starting from day one of employment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 to 7 years of medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience
- Minimum 2 years in A/C refrigeration
- Experience with diagnosis and repair of air and air disc brakes
- Computerized diagnostic skills
- Valid CDL license preferred for additional pay
- Ability to work overnight shifts Monday through Thursday
- Ability to perform road call services as required
- Proficient in documenting repairs through online systems
- Ability to train other employees
- Commitment to safety and compliance with federal and state regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 5 to 7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience including preventative maintenance, tire and wheel services, air and air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in A/C refrigeration
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Complete and perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition, replacing parts as needed
- Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration before being deemed roadworthy
- Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools including pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment
- Train other employees
- Perform other related duties assigned
