The company is committed to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-managed fleet to support its operational goals and ensure uninterrupted service excellence.

This full-time position within Carpet Tech's Fleet Maintenance Department focuses primarily on hands-on maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles and equipment. The role is pivotal to the company’s operational efficiency, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment scheduled for service receive timely, effective, and quality repairs. The Fleet Maintenance Technician works under the guidance of the Fleet Manager and collaborates closely with the office manager to maintain a seamless workflow and rapid turnaround of service requests. The technician is expected to implement quality assurance and control procedures to uphold high maintenance standards.

The job demands proactive inspection, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical systems, including brakes, steering, wheel alignment, and other critical components. Responsibilities extend to diagnosing malfunctions using advanced diagnostic equipment, performing routine maintenance tasks like oil changes and lubrication, testing vehicle systems through operational test drives, and maintaining automotive and mechanical machinery such as pumps and compressors. Furthermore, the role includes working with electrical systems, including ignition rewiring and light repairs.

This position requires a strong knowledge of OSHA standards relating to fleet operations to ensure a safe working environment. The technician must exhibit sound judgment in the use of equipment, tools, materials, and manpower while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining productivity. Adherence to Carpet Tech's Drug-Free Workplace Policy is mandatory, which includes various forms of employee drug testing to uphold safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both for interacting tactfully with management and public officials and for compiling and presenting technical reports and business correspondence. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly under pressure are crucial. The role also emphasizes teamwork, requiring cooperation with other team members and a commitment to the broader goals of the Fleet Maintenance Department and Carpet Tech at large.

Operating within a dynamic work environment, the technician will engage with motorized tools and mechanical equipment, including jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools, and electronic diagnostic devices. The department expects employees to maintain company tools strictly within the facility and to adhere to protocols related to vehicle and equipment access during working hours.

Physical demands for this role include frequent standing, walking, using hand tools, and occasional lifting of heavy objects up to 100 pounds. The work environment involves moderate to loud noise levels and occasional exposure to various weather conditions, fumes, and chemicals, necessitating vigilance and adherence to safety measures.

Overall, this position offers a comprehensive and essential role in ensuring that Carpet Tech’s fleet operates at peak performance, supporting the company’s commitment to quality service delivery, safety, and operational excellence.
