Job Description
Zoetis is a global leader in animal health, dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of animals through innovative products and solutions. As a company specializing in veterinary pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, Zoetis combines scientific excellence with customer-focused services to improve animal health worldwide. The organization is well-known for its commitment to research, quality, and advancing animal care technologies, serving veterinarians, livestock producers, and pet owners across various markets.
The Diagnostics Solutions Consultant (DSC) at Zoetis is a vital field-based sales professional who plays an essential role in expanding the reach and adoption of Zoetis diagnostic instruments, tests, and related products and services within a designated US sales territory. This full-time, colleague-level position offers a competitive US base salary ranging from $67,000 to $97,000 along with eligibility for both short-term and long-term incentive compensation. Working closely with the broader Zoetis team, the Diagnostics Solutions Consultant undertakes an active role in managing customer relationships, driving new business development, and meeting targeted sales quotas.
This role demands a high level of customer interaction, requiring frequent travel within the assigned territory, including extensive driving and occasional overnight stays up to 4-8 nights per month. The DSC visits multiple existing and prospective customers daily, typically targeting three to four visits to current clients and an equal number of new business opportunities to build a robust sales pipeline and maximize instrument placements and product sales. Maintaining meticulous records of all customer engagements and sales funnel data in the company's systems is critical for ensuring alignment and tracking progress.
Beyond sales activities, the DSC is responsible for handling diagnostic equipment transportation, setup, and product demonstrations, showcasing the technical capabilities and benefits of Zoetis' diagnostic solutions. This includes presenting the value proposition clearly to veterinary professionals, answering their questions, and supporting customer needs both in-person and remotely through follow-up support and communication. The consultant also works closely with diagnostic technical specialists to enhance customer service and product utilization, optimizing outcomes for clients.
The successful candidate combines strong technical knowledge, particularly in veterinary science and terminology, with sales expertise to effectively communicate and build trust with clients. Prior experience selling capital equipment in veterinary or physician clinics is preferred, alongside demonstrated skills in delivering engaging presentations at multiple organizational levels. Organizational abilities, prioritization, and time management are essential attributes to handle the multi-faceted nature of this role safely, including lifting and moving equipment up to 60 pounds.
Zoetis values an entrepreneurial and early-adopter mindset, encouraging continuous learning and adaptation to evolving market conditions, competitive dynamics, and technological advancements. This mindset enables the Diagnostics Solutions Consultant to not only meet but exceed sales targets and contribute meaningfully to Zoetis' growth and success in the diagnostic product segment. Employees also benefit from a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare and insurance starting on day one, a 401k plan with matching and profit sharing, and generous vacation time, reflecting Zoetis' commitment to colleague well-being and work-life balance.
