Job Description
Leidos is a global leader in providing innovative technology solutions and services primarily to government and commercial customers. Founded and headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and boasts annual revenues of around $16.7 billion as of the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. The company specializes in delivering smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations that help solve complex challenges for national security, health, and engineering sectors. Known for its commitment to disruptive technology and mission-critical solutions, Leidos fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, striving to outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo for its customers.
The Devops / Systems Engineer position at Leidos is a critical role within the Cloud Automation Advancements Team. This position requires a highly skilled professional with an active Top Secret security clearance, capable of working collaboratively with both technical and program management leadership. The candidate will be instrumental in implementing the next generation of desktop and web-based production and dissemination systems. Central to the role is the responsibility for standing up and maintaining Windows Servers in cloud environments, deploying and maintaining custom code, commercially off-the-shelf (COTS), and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) software to these environments.
This position blends systems administration with DevOps activities, supporting the development and delivery of innovative systems designed to implement analytics, exploitation, production, and dissemination via web, remote desktop, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS), alongside a deep understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and desktop operating systems, system design and architecture, and DevSecOps methodologies. Additionally, experience with CI/CD pipelines, GITLAB, RedHat OpenShift, and Python web application development is highly sought after.
The role demands proactive communication skills, organizational finesse, and the ability to manage complex tasks to completion with meticulous attention to detail. Candidates should be adept at verbally and in writing articulating ideas clearly and adapting their communication style depending on the audience. The program core hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Time, with occasional requirements for evening or weekend work, which will be managed through schedule adjustments.
Leidos offers a competitive pay range for this position, from $107,900 to $195,050 annually, emphasizing that compensation depends on factors such as experience, education, internal equity, and applicable agreements. Employment benefits include comprehensive health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement plans, reinforcing Leidos’ commitment to supporting its workforce holistically.
Candidates interested in contributing their expertise to a forward-thinking, mission-driven organization that values creativity, persistence, and excellence will find this role rewarding. Leidos is not seeking followers but those who disrupt, innovate, and refuse failure — pushing beyond conventional steps to achieve innovative technological solutions that address mission-critical challenges.
