Job Description

The Dallas Opera is a premier performing arts organization renowned for delivering an exceptional repertoire of mainstage and chamber operas that captivate audiences nationally and internationally. Celebrated for its commitment to artistic excellence, The Dallas Opera also places a strong emphasis on community outreach and education, making opera accessible to diverse communities across the Dallas area and beyond. Governed by rigorous standards of accountability, efficiency, and financial sustainability, the organization continually strives to maintain its stature as a leader in the operatic world. In 2025, The Dallas Opera successfully completed a landmark $54.5 million campaign, which dramatically more than doubled its foundation’s endowment and significantly bolstered its operating funds, with philanthropy annually contributing $14-$15 million of the organization’s total $18-$19 million budget. This level of financial support underscores the strong community and donor base that sustains The Dallas Opera’s artistic and educational ventures.

The Development Operations Manager position at The Dallas Opera plays a critical role within the Development team, providing essential administrative support for fundraising efforts, managing vital data and communications, and facilitating cross-department collaboration. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role is integral to ensuring efficient donor stewardship and the smooth execution of fundraising strategies. Key responsibilities include managing the development database, creating detailed reports for leadership, overseeing donor communications, and supporting the frontline fundraisers, especially the Director of Development. The position demands a highly organized individual adept at multitasking in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Additionally, the Development Operations Manager coordinates closely with the Tessitura Operations and Strategy Director, Events Manager, and Institutional Marketing Manager to align fundraising goals with broader organizational initiatives. This includes overseeing donor event communications, ensuring accuracy across donor recognition materials like program books and signage, and managing sponsorship information for major events. The role also involves drafting correspondence, proposals, and stewardship materials that reinforce donor engagement and retention. A collaborative approach is taken to support Development Committee functions and Board governance, managing logistics such as scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining contact lists.

Cross-company collaboration is a cornerstone of this role, requiring the Development Operations Manager to act as a liaison between Development, Marketing, and Finance departments, managing data flow and project timelines to keep important fundraising campaigns and initiatives on track. Working at The Dallas Opera means being part of a vibrant, evolving arts organization where the scope of responsibilities may grow as the organization's needs develop. This position offers a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about the performing arts and skilled in project management, data management, and donor relations to contribute meaningfully to a world-class cultural institution.
