Job Description
Chambliss Center for Children is a longstanding nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families across the Chattanooga region. With a rich history spanning over 150 years, the Center provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at strengthening families and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. These services include early childhood education and childcare programs for infants through school-age children, foster care placement and support services in partnership with the State of Tennessee, adoption services ensuring children find safe and permanent homes, and a Transitional Living Program that offers housing, life skills training, and ongoing support for young adults aging out of foster care. They also operate innovative "micro-centers" located within Hamilton County schools that offer convenient, high-quality onsite childcare specifically designed for teachers and school employees. This holistic approach ensures that Chambliss Center impacts the lives of children and families daily, helping working families access reliable childcare, supporting children in foster care, assisting youth transitioning to independence, and ultimately contributing to stronger outcomes for the entire community. When employees join Chambliss, they become part of a mission-driven team whose efforts directly support programs that make a lasting difference throughout the Chattanooga region. Every donor relationship, grant award, sponsorship, and fundraising event helps expand opportunities for those who need them most, making this organization a cornerstone for community growth and child welfare.
The Development Coordinator role at Chambliss Center for Children is a vital position focused on supporting the organization's fundraising efforts, donor engagement, grant development, community partnerships, and stewardship activities. This role is designed for a passionate, organized, and detail-oriented development professional who enjoys both relationship building and event planning. The Development Coordinator will assist in coordinating fundraising events from initial planning stages through successful execution, research grant opportunities, contribute to grant writing and reporting, and maintain grant calendars and documentation. Additionally, the coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for third-party fundraising partners and manage the monthly giving program to maximize donor engagement and retention. Responsibilities also include preparing donor acknowledgments, impact reports, and maintaining accurate donor and gift records within the donor database. Representing Chambliss Center at community events, networking opportunities, and tours, the Development Coordinator will help build positive and lasting relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. The position offers an hourly pay rate of $21 to $24, depending on education and experience, alongside generous paid time off, telehealth services, employer contributions to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), and a retirement plan with company match. This opportunity is not only a career step but a chance to contribute meaningfully to impactful programs that help children and families build stronger futures across the community.
