Job Description
The American Heart Association (AHA) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke. Founded in 1924, the AHA has a nearly 100-year history of advancing research, education, and public awareness to reduce heart disease and improve overall health outcomes in communities across the United States. With a mission to be a relentless force for longer, healthier lives regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, or abilities, the AHA actively supports healthy living, promotes scientifically backed health policies, and funds groundbreaking medical research. The Hawaii Division of the American Heart Association is based in Honolulu and continues to extend the organization's impactful work to improve cardiovascular health in the Pacific region through community engagement and innovative programs.
The Development Coordinator role at the Hawaii Division of the American Heart Association is an office-based position requiring on-site presence Monday through Thursday, with occasional additional days as needed. This key position involves supporting the organization's fundraising efforts by planning, coordinating, and executing major fundraising campaigns and events. The Development Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring that the division’s programs and campaigns run smoothly by managing detailed administrative and logistical tasks, coordinating volunteers, and handling data management with accuracy and timeliness.
As part of the Development team, the Coordinator helps create exceptional experiences that support the AHA’s mission to improve the health and well-being of communities. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and proficiency with data management systems and Microsoft Office applications. The Development Coordinator will often liaise internally with staff and externally with volunteers, donors, and community partners, underscoring the importance of effective communication and collaboration skills.
The position offers an hourly pay range from $25.00 to $29.50, which is commensurate with experience and may vary by geographic location. The American Heart Association promotes work-life harmonization and offers numerous professional development opportunities, such as Heart U, the Association’s national online university with a vast library of resources, as well as local training and support. Employees benefit from a robust total rewards package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plans with employer matching; and employee wellness programs. The AHA values diversity, equity, and inclusion in its workforce and provides a culture where all employees can be seen, heard, and valued.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that makes a measurable impact on public health and community well-being. By supporting crucial fundraising initiatives, the Development Coordinator contributes directly to the progress toward the AHA's 2028 Goal: driving breakthroughs in science, policy, and care to reach healthier people and communities across the country. Candidates who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are passionate about making a difference in health outcomes will find this role rewarding and impactful.
