Job Description
Breakthrough T1D is the leading global research and advocacy organization dedicated to type 1 diabetes (T1D). Our mission is to improve the lives of those affected by T1D by accelerating the discovery of life-changing therapies and ultimately a cure for this chronic condition. We invest heavily in promising research initiatives, turning innovative ideas into effective treatments and devices that improve daily living for people with T1D. Beyond research, Breakthrough T1D champions the community by advocating with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and insurance providers to break down barriers limiting access to care worldwide. Through education, advocacy, and community programs, the organization works tirelessly to empower individuals living with T1D so they can thrive despite their diagnosis. Join us in helping expand awareness and support for this vital cause.
The Development Coordinator (DC) position at the Breakthrough T1D Alabama Chapter plays a critical role in supporting fundraising and community engagement efforts aimed at fulfilling our organizational strategies and mission. This role acts as a bridge between donors, volunteers, and the chapter, expanding our network and boosting fundraising outcomes to fund essential research and services. The Development Coordinator will manage a portfolio of fundraising events, including peer-to-peer walks and a signature gala, maximizing revenue and participant engagement. Being a remote role, the ideal candidate must be based near Huntsville, Alabama, and will occasionally travel up to 30% for events and meetings. The Southern States Territory, encompassing Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, is a vital region for Breakthrough T1D, generating approximately $7 million in net revenue annually through over 17 events. As part of a collaborative team of 16 staff, 7 boards, and numerous volunteers, the Development Coordinator will contribute significantly to the chapter's growth and success.
This role demands a high-energy, relationship-focused individual who is passionate about our mission and can inspire others to get involved. The coordinator will execute fundraising strategies, cultivate donor relations, secure sponsorships, and coach fundraisers to amplify participation and financial support. Key areas of responsibility include implementing effective donor stewardship programs, supporting volunteer engagement, and contributing to awareness campaigns that promote the organization’s goals. The Development Coordinator will handle administrative duties related to event planning, donor database management, and compliance with organizational policies. Strong communication skills, creativity, and teamwork are essential to thrive in this role, which offers the rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in the fight against type 1 diabetes.
