With a commitment to ensuring public safety, the department provides various services, including law enforcement, detention, and public outreach programs. As an employer, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office values professionalism, integrity, and teamwork, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for its employees. The office emphasizes a family-like culture where members support each other while making a meaningful difference in the community. Strong communication skills, conflict resolution proficiency, and excellent customer service are vital as the role requires interaction with a diverse range of individuals, including inmates, coworkers, and supervisors. A positive attitude, confidence, and the ability to be a team player are equally essential to succeed in this environment.

The office offers the opportunity for career growth and development within a challenging and rewarding workplace. Employees enjoy flexible work arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package that supports their health, well-being, and professional advancement. Benefits include salary advancement opportunities based on performance, generous paid time off, full county-paid health premium contributions, post-retirement health reimbursement, pension plan integration with Social Security, paid parental leave, and additional perks such as dental, vision, disability insurance, an employee assistance program, and professional development opportunities.

Candidates interested in this role should possess institutional kitchen experience, experience leading teams and working with diverse personalities, strong communication and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to use phone and computer communications effectively. Food Handler's Certification or Food Manager’s Certification along with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office enhance candidacy.

In addition to occupational duties, individuals must be prepared for the physical demands of the role and undergo thorough background checks, including polygraphs, drug tests, and other medical assessments. Willingness to work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, is required. The Sheriff’s Office values diversity and is committed to equal employment opportunities based on merit and business needs.
