Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality leader dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences to guests across its diverse portfolio of hotels and resorts. Among its prestigious brands, W Hotels stands out for its innovative approach to luxury hospitality, characterized by a vibrant, forward-thinking culture that embraces curiosity and originality. Located at 1439 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, the W Hotels property combines luxury, style, and outstanding guest services aimed at making each stay memorable. This full-time management position offers an attractive pay range of $41.35 to $55.29 per hour and includes bonus eligibility, along with relocation assistance, reflecting Marriott's commitment to attracting top talent ready to excel in the hospitality industry.
The role of the Destination Sales Manager (DSM) at this W Hotels location is pivotal in bridging the efforts of off-property sales channels such as Sales Office, Area Sales, and EST with the hotel's strategic sales objectives. The DSM is responsible for coordinating site inspections and visits, ensuring that the property’s needs are met through seamless collaboration with remote sales teams. By fostering growth and achieving revenue targets for opportunities processed through the Sales Office, the DSM plays an essential role in driving the hotel’s commercial success. This role requires a dynamic individual who excels in relationship-building, proactive selling, and delivering superior customer service.
The DSM also focuses on upselling the hotel’s various facilities including spa, golf, and restaurants to both leisure guests and group planners. This proactive approach not only enhances revenue but also enriches the overall guest experience by showcasing the full range of amenities available. The manager supports group sales promotions, recommends strategic space utilization to optimize function space revenues, and assists in managing complex event planning aspects for business booked well in advance. Through careful planning and consistent communication, the DSM ensures client satisfaction and facilitates smooth transitions to event management teams.
A critical aspect of the DSM's duties involves executing exemplary customer service aligned with Marriott’s brand service standards. This includes acting as a personal concierge during site visits, coordinating transportation, delivering welcome amenities, and engaging with clients to exceed service expectations at every touchpoint. By understanding customer needs and the competitive landscape, the DSM provides expert knowledge that differentiates the property within a busy and dynamic market. Through active participation in pre- and post-event meetings, the DSM gathers valuable feedback to continuously improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
This role demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to deliver exceptional outcomes. The DSM also develops site standards and pricing guidelines to maintain operational efficiency and profitability. Marriott International emphasizes an inclusive work environment that values diversity and fosters the professional growth of its associates. Candidates who join the W Hotels team are welcomed into a culture that encourages innovation, passion, and a commitment to service excellence, offering a rewarding career path with access to global opportunities within the Marriott family.
