Within its luxury portfolio, JW Marriott stands out with over 100 elegant properties across gateway cities and unique resort destinations worldwide. JW Marriott prioritizes the well-being and satisfaction of its associates, believing that happy employees lead to happy guests. The culture fostered here encourages confidence, innovation, authenticity, and intuition, reflecting the legacy of the company’s founder, J. Willard Marriott. JW Marriott properties provide a distinctive work environment marked by community, camaraderie among diverse colleagues, and abundant opportunities for personal development and recognition. Focusing on holistic well-being, JW Marriott offers a unique place to pursue passions within a luxury setting where associates are valued and cared for, exemplifying "The JW Treatment™." Joining JW Marriott means aligning with a prestigious brand within Marriott International’s expansive network, where you can truly do your best work, begin your purpose, belong to a dynamic global team, and become the best version of yourself.
This particular role is a Group Sales Coordinator position based in New York City at 1535 Broadway. It is a full-time management role with an hourly pay range of $51.75 to $70.19 and eligibility for bonuses. The Group Sales Coordinator works closely with the Sales Office to book group events while adhering to established group booking parameters. This position requires coordinating and conducting site inspections and visits, supporting off-property sales managers, and ensuring that business is properly and promptly turned over for quality service delivery. The role is vital in pulling through business booked through the Sales Office and achieving group revenue targets by actively up-selling every business opportunity to maximize revenue potential.
The Group Sales Coordinator is responsible for implementing the brand’s comprehensive service strategy and applicable initiatives throughout the sales process. This involves driving customer loyalty by consistently delivering service excellence across every customer interaction. The Coordinator supports Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and Brand Standards, ensuring guest issues related to sales are addressed effectively by working closely with property leadership and relevant stakeholders. Additionally, the role requires a deep understanding of the local market conditions, competitive landscape, economic trends, and seasonality, allowing for strategic selling and positioning of the property to maximize business growth.
Beyond sales activities, the Coordinator builds and nurtures successful relationships with internal sales teams and external clients, including community organizations and potential leads. Responsibilities include greeting and escorting clients, acting as a personal concierge during site visits, coordinating transportation and amenities, and providing welcoming gestures to enhance the client experience. Regular involvement in pre- and post-convention meetings, familiarization tours, and sales promotions are part of the duties, as is tracking bookings and leads generated from site activities.
The ideal candidate brings at least four years of experience in sales, marketing, guest services, or related fields with either a high school diploma or GED, or alternatively holds a two-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field with at least two years of experience. Large group sales experience is preferred but not mandatory. The role demands excellent communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to sales and customer service. Working at JW Marriott means becoming part of a respected brand dedicated to excellence in hospitality and associate development, providing a rewarding career path within a professional and supportive environment.
