Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and reported nearly $16.7 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ended January 2025. Renowned for combining deep technical expertise with a commitment to integrity and customer service, Leidos plays a vital role in delivering smarter, more efficient services in defense, health, energy, and intelligence sectors among others. The company offers diverse career opportunities with a strong emphasis on professional growth, competitive compensation, and substantial benefits.
NGEN (Navy Enterprise Network) is the Navy's largest IT services program, focusing on the management and integration of critical naval communication and network infrastructure. Within NGEN, the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) segment spearheads the backbone that supports the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, delivering essential cybersecurity, network operations, service desk support, and data transport capabilities. Leidos’s role within this program is to unify shore-based Navy networks and streamline data management, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness and reducing costs by consolidating efforts into a cohesive enterprise network.
The Mid-level Desktop Support Technician position based in Norfolk, VA is a critical component of Leidos’s Field Services team supporting this vital Navy program. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in providing end-user desk-side IT support. The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a range of IT equipment, including computers, printers, multifunction devices, and networked hardware components. This role demands physical capability including lifting heavy equipment, working within confined spaces such as raised floors or communication closets, and operating in noisy data centers. The technician must be proficient with various hand tools and test equipment, demonstrate strong customer service skills, and work efficiently within established service level requirements.
In addition to the technical responsibilities, this position requires collaboration with other technicians to solve complex issues and uphold high standards of service delivery. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, hold a DoD Secret Clearance, and possess at least four years of relevant experience or equivalent certifications such as DoD 8570 IAT Level II: Security+ or higher. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 11, basic networking troubleshooting, and service ticket management tools such as HP Service Manager or Remedy is essential. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with reliability and professionalism in a government site setting, are essential for success.
This job offers a competitive hourly wage of $26.00 to $29.00, with robust benefits that include health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement plans. Leidos is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and supports career development in a fast-moving, dynamic environment where innovation and customer satisfaction are paramount. This is an excellent opportunity for IT professionals looking to advance their careers while supporting a high-impact government mission.
