Job Description

Lubbock County is a government entity responsible for providing a range of public services to its community in Texas. The role available within Lubbock County involves performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties predominantly related to the legal and judicial functions of the county. This position is primarily focused on managing data and documentation associated with tax cases, family law litigants, child support enforcement, and jury processes. The employee will handle important case data entry on systems like the State Disbursement Unit (TXCSES Web), manage correspondence, assist pro se family law litigants with final orders, and coordinate mail runs including jury mail. This administrative role requires a person who is detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to maintain professional interaction with coworkers, the public, and external agencies such as the Attorney General's Office.

The core responsibilities set the tone for a critical support role that ensures the timely processing and accuracy of legal data and court-related information. The employee will also support intake processing for passports and occasionally serve as a backup receptionist, which demands good communication skills and a courteous demeanor. Expertise in Microsoft Office programs is essential, along with the ability to type 45 net words per minute. Knowledge and application of the Texas Family Code will be necessary, as well as the capability to interpret and apply relevant laws and procedures properly. Physical demands include the ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds and the flexibility to move around the office as required. This permanent position offers an opportunity to contribute centrally to judicial process administration and support Lubbock County's goal of efficient government service.

Job Duties

  • Process all e-filings for tax cases
  • process passports to be sent to the passport agency
  • submit/correct data on the SDU portal on child support cases
  • issue wage assignments and enter on computer
  • mail correspondence to custodial parents, non-custodial parents, and employers
  • act as backup receptionist for the office, forwarding calls to appropriate clerks or supervisors and answering questions within scope of training
  • pull files and handle walk-throughs of final orders for pro se filers
  • maintain knowledge of Texas Family Code
  • interact with representatives of the Attorney General's Office
  • pickup and deliver mail to the mailroom multiple times daily
  • process jury mail by coding correct information into the jury program
  • answer jury calls and return voicemails
  • perform any other duties as assigned
