The Department Manager role at Buffalo Wild Wings is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing specific operational areas within the restaurant, including the Heart of House, Bar, or Hospitality departments. The Bar Manager handles beverage operations, inventory management, responsible alcohol service, and motivation of bar staff. The Hospitality Manager oversees dining room service and team member development. All Department Managers share accountability for staff planning, training, scheduling within budget, performance feedback, quality assurance, compliance with health and safety standards, and executing innovative programs to boost sales and guest satisfaction. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of restaurant or hospitality management experience
- Experience managing a restaurant with a full bar preferred
- Completion of Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to create a fun and exciting environment for guests and team members
- Skilled in basic mathematical computations
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced settings
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities
- Knowledge of health, safety, and compliance standards
Job Duties
- Manage food/product matters in the Heart of House area
- Plan, hire, train, and develop department team members
- Maintain safe environments and adherence to health standards
- Oversee inventory control and vendor relations
- Manage adult beverage operations including ordering and RAS compliance
- Create weekly schedules within labor budgets
- Implement incentive programs and contests
- Provide regular performance feedback and conduct appraisals
- Assist General Manager with coaching and performance management
- Ensure adherence to service, quality, and cleanliness standards
- Monitor equipment and report repair needs
- Operate department within food and labor cost targets
- Utilize restaurant performance tools to identify and address issues
- Manage guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction
- Develop action plans and follow through on completion
- Facilitate new product rollouts and promotions
- Administer administrative duties like invoicing and end of day procedures
