The company actively supports community initiatives such as funding grants for school gardens, providing access to fresh and healthy food within underserved areas known as food deserts, and combating poverty in developing countries. This unique approach not only revolutionizes the grocery industry but also fosters meaningful change locally and globally.
Working at Whole Foods Market means contributing to a movement that sets the standard for excellence in retail while making a positive impact in customers' lives and the environment. With a focus on teamwork, personal growth, and community involvement, the company offers a dynamic and rewarding workplace.
The Seafood Team Leader role at Whole Foods Market is a key leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of the seafood department's daily operations. This includes overseeing profitability, expense control, buyer decisions, merchandising, labor management, regulatory compliance, and special projects. The person in this role plays a critical part in hiring, developing, and sometimes disciplining team members to sustain high standards of service and operational efficiency.
This role requires exceptional knowledge of the seafood market, including competitor analysis and industry trends. It also demands strong leadership skills to foster a positive team environment, promote teamwork, mutual respect, and maintain high employee morale. Leaders in this position are accountable for achieving sales and labor targets, managing inventory effectively, projecting annual sales and expenses, and preparing budgets aligned with the store's goals.
The Seafood Team Leader ensures that all activities adhere to Whole Foods Market's standard operating procedures and core values. This includes maintaining a positive company image by providing courteous and efficient service to customers and team members and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards. The role also includes mentoring and motivating team members through coaching and performance evaluations, contributing to organizational success and employee development.
Whole Foods Market offers competitive wages ranging from $23.60 to $42.50 per hour, depending on experience. The company also provides comprehensive benefits under the Whole Benefits program, accessible to both full and part-time employees. These benefits include paid time off, financial wellness support, health and wellness programs, store discounts, and additional team member perks. Eligibility depends on factors such as work location, length of service, and job type.
This position requires physical capabilities such as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift, and perform various movements including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. The work environment consists of exposure to cold and wet conditions typical of seafood handling, as well as the safe use of tools and equipment like box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and cutting instruments.
Joining Whole Foods Market as a Seafood Team Leader offers an opportunity to grow your career within a supportive, innovative, and socially responsible company committed to excellence in the grocery industry and beyond.
