Job Description

This job opportunity is with a restaurant independently owned and operated by a franchisee licensed to use McDonald’s trademarks, logos, and food products. Unlike corporate McDonald’s locations, this franchisee operates as a separate company and employer, responsible for all employment decisions, including hiring, firing, supervision, discipline, and scheduling. This distinction means the franchisee alone manages staffing and employment matters, and McDonald’s USA is not involved in these processes. Applicants understand that their employment application and related information will be submitted exclusively to the franchisee, not McDonald’s USA.

The role available is for a Department Manager within this independently owned McDonald’s restaurant. This position provides individuals the opportunity to build a rewarding career within a dynamic, fast-paced, and customer-focused environment. The position emphasizes flexibility, growth, and leadership development. Department Managers and shift managers are key to delivering a fast, accurate, and friendly experience for guests on every visit. They lead shifts, manage assigned operational systems like training, food safety, and inventory control, and delegate responsibilities to team members while tracking and reporting results.

Department Managers take ownership of specific restaurant areas or systems. For instance, the Guest Service Department Manager ensures the front counter, McCafé, drive-thru, and delivery areas operate smoothly to achieve exceptional customer service, as well as maintaining training standards related to customer interactions and sales promotions. The Kitchen Department Manager supervises food quality, safety, and cost control and ensures kitchen staff are properly trained in food production procedures, including updates when new menu items are introduced. The People Department Manager is responsible for recruitment, training, scheduling, and motivating the restaurant team to meet sales and profit goals. They work hard to create a positive, productive environment that promotes employee success and retention.

While previous managerial experience within restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings is preferred, the franchise values candidates who are positive team players, flexible, and passionate about working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply for a managerial role. McDonald’s offers competitive pay alongside various benefits that support work-life balance, career growth, and education advancement.

This role is ideal for individuals eager to pursue their professional ambitions while earning income and obtaining valuable skills in leadership, customer service, and operations management. McDonald’s provides an inclusive environment where employees can express themselves, pursue education, and take advantage of tuition assistance programs such as Archways to Opportunity, which offers pathways to earning a high school diploma and college tuition aid. The role also includes the benefit of paid training, bonuses for outstanding customer service, and opportunities for advancing into higher leadership positions within the restaurant.

Overall, working as a Department Manager at this McDonald’s franchise is not just a job—it’s a career pathway with meaningful growth potential, comprehensive support, and a vibrant team. As part of a well-known brand operated locally by an independent franchisee, this position offers the best of both worlds: the brand recognition and resources of McDonald’s and the personalized, community-focused approach of a franchise-owned restaurant.
