Job Description

This job opportunity is with a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee rather than McDonald's USA directly. The franchise owns the license to use McDonald's logos and food products but operates as a separate company and employer for all employment matters. If selected for this position, you will be employed by the franchisee, which is solely responsible for employment decisions such as hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and scheduling. McDonald's USA does not influence these decisions, will not see your application, and is not involved in the recruitment process.

The role offered is for a Department Manager within the McDonald's restaurant franchise system. This position is designed for individuals seeking a fulfilling career with substantial opportunities for career progression and personal growth. The role provides flexibility in scheduling, enabling employees to balance work with pursuing education and skill-building. Department Managers play a key role in running a restaurant that focuses on delivering delicious food and memorable customer experiences through team energy and efficient operations.

As a Department Manager, you will have distinct responsibilities depending on the department you lead: Guest Service, Kitchen, or People. Managing shifts weekly, you ensure that customers receive fast, friendly, and accurate service. In the Guest Service Department, the manager oversees crew and managers to maintain excellent customer relations, implements sales promotions, and organizes front counter, McCafé, and drive-thru service areas. For the Kitchen Department, responsibilities include ensuring food quality, safety, and cost control, as well as training kitchen staff in production procedures and new menu items. The People Department Manager focuses on hiring, training, scheduling crew to meet sales and profit goals, as well as motivating and recognizing employees for their contributions.

An ideal candidate will have previous managerial experience, especially in restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings, be at least 18 years old, and possess a positive, flexible attitude suited for the fast-paced McDonald's environment. The franchise values team players who enjoy working with energy and purpose while honing leadership capabilities and coaching others.

Aside from competitive pay, the franchisee offers an impressive benefits package including paid vacation days, paid holidays, an 8-week sabbatical every 10 years, and access to educational assistance programs through Archways to Opportunity. This education program helps employees earn their high school degree, provides college tuition support, and offers English as a second language classes. Medical, dental, and vision insurance, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability, life and accident insurance, paid leaves of absence, employee resource connections, adoption assistance, and a matching gifts program further enhance the benefits of this role.

Working as a Department Manager at a McDonald's franchise provides the chance to grow professionally in a supportive and structured environment. You will be supported to reach your goals, develop leadership skills, and make tangible impacts on customer experience and restaurant success. If you're aspiring to be part of a dynamic team that values personal development, leadership, and operational excellence, this position offers a meaningful pathway forward. The independent franchisee hosting this opportunity ensures close-knit team dynamics with the backing of a globally recognized brand.
