Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee licensed to use McDonald’s logos and food products. Unlike McDonald’s USA corporate, this franchisee operates as a separate company and employer and independently manages all employment matters including hiring, firing, scheduling, and staffing. If hired, you will be employed directly by this franchisee and not by McDonald’s USA. This distinction is important as McDonald’s USA has no control over or involvement in employment decisions at the restaurant.
This franchisee-owned McDonald’s location offers a dynamic work environment where employees can grow their careers within one of the world’s most recognized fast food brands while enjoying the benefits and culture of an independently managed business. The restaurant aims to provide an inspiring workplace with opportunities to build skills, advance in leadership roles, and enjoy the flexibility of scheduling and pursuing education. Employees join a team that thrives on energy and purpose, focuses on delivering excellent customer experiences, and supports each individual’s personal and professional growth.
The position available is for a Department Manager role within the restaurant. This role involves shift leadership responsibilities to ensure customers receive fast, accurate, and friendly service every time they visit. Department Managers may be responsible for an assigned functional area or system within the restaurant such as Training, Food Safety, Inventory Management, Guest Service, Kitchen operations, or People management. Managers in these roles lead teams, set goals, delegate tasks, provide coaching, and monitor results to uphold high standards.
Guest Service Department Managers focus on ensuring crews and managers consistently deliver excellent customer service, execute sales promotions effectively, and maintain an organized front counter, McCafe, and drive-thru environment. Kitchen Department Managers oversee food quality, safety, cost control, and staff training to maintain efficient and safe food production. People Department Managers handle the recruitment, training, scheduling, and motivation of crew members to meet sales and profitability goals while fostering a positive work culture.
Ideal candidates for Department Manager roles have previous management experience preferably within restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings. These candidates demonstrate positive attitudes, flexibility in working hours, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in McDonald’s famously fast-paced environment. Managers must be at least 18 years old to qualify for this leadership position.
Along with a competitive salary, Department Managers enjoy an attractive benefits package designed to support their personal and professional lives. Benefits include paid vacation ranging from 15 to 25 days per year, paid holidays, an anniversary splash bonus, and an eight-week sabbatical every ten years. Educational opportunities are provided through the Archways to Opportunity program, which offers high school completion, college tuition assistance, and English language classes.
Additional benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability insurance, life and accident insurance, paid leaves of absence, service awards, employee resource connections, adoption assistance, and a matching gifts program. These offerings ensure that managers have the resources and support needed to lead effectively and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
By joining this independently owned McDonald’s franchise, employees gain the advantage of a well-established global brand along with the personalized attention and career development opportunities that come from smaller, locally operated businesses. This role is perfect for those looking for a challenging and rewarding managerial career with room to advance, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact on their team and customers.
