The Retail Department Lead role at CHEF'STORE® within US Foods is a full-time position offering a starting pay rate of $20.67 per hour. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a customer-focused retail environment and are passionate about leading teams to deliver superior service. The role requires day availability with flexibility that includes weekends and holidays, reinforcing the company’s commitment to flexibility and employee support.

As a Retail Department Lead, you will be an essential part of the CHEF'STORE® team, responsible for managing various departments such as Dry, Disposables, Culinary Equipment Supplies (CES), and Fresh. You will ensure that inventory levels meet store capacity, seasonal demands, and customer preferences to drive sales and maximize profitability. Your leadership will help maintain an appealing merchandise presentation and foster a safe and clean environment for both customers and staff.

This role involves stepping into leadership functions, including opening and closing the store and serving as Manager on Duty when Store Management is not present. Your ability to motivate and develop staff to uphold service and operational standards will be crucial to the store’s success.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years’ experience in retail, restaurant, or customer service
  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in computer use including word processing, email, and internet
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to assess and address situations quickly
  • Good common sense and decision-making
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Motivated, self-driven, and adaptable
  • Willingness to assist with various tasks to ensure efficient service
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, and perform keyboarding tasks
  • Commitment to safety and maintenance of a safe work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years’ experience in retail, restaurant, or customer service environment
  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Competency with computer use, word processing, email, and internet software
  • Strong desire to deliver exceptional customer service

Job Duties

  • Lead all functions of the Dry, Disposables, and Culinary Equipment Supplies (CES), and fresh departments as assigned by Store Management
  • Ensure effective inventory levels, appealing and profitable merchandise presentation, and quality customer service
  • Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities including opening and closing the store in the absence of Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager
  • Maximize departmental sales by driving superior customer service, freshness, and stock maintenance
  • Train, motivate, and develop staff to execute company standards
  • Stock shelves, set up displays, ring up sales, and perform cleaning duties as needed
  • Ensure facility safety and maintenance by following safety policies and correcting hazards
