Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor committed to providing great food, made easy, to customers across the nation. As a company, US Foods prides itself on its strong cultural beliefs which emphasize delivering excellence, reducing waste, winning together, encouraging open communication, and valuing every individual. With a vast network of resources and a dedicated team, US Foods supports chefs and foodservice operators to succeed in their culinary endeavors by offering high-quality products and exceptional service. The company operates various divisions, including CHEF'STORE®, which serves as a retail platform offering a wide variety of culinary supplies, fresh products, and equipment to professional chefs and foodservice businesses. US Foods promotes a dynamic work environment where collaboration, customer focus, and operational excellence are paramount.

The role of Retail Department Lead at CHEF'STORE® is a full-time position with a starting rate of $20.87 per hour, inclusive of overtime compensation. This role demands open availability, including weekends, to meet the needs of the business and deliver excellent customer service day in and day out. Benefits start from day one, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more, ensuring employees feel valued and supported from the outset.

As a Retail Department Lead, you will be instrumental in maintaining an atmosphere of superior customer service while promoting the US Foods strategy and cultural beliefs. You will lead all functions of assigned retail departments such as Dry Goods, Disposables, Culinary Equipment Supplies (CES), and fresh departments as assigned by Store Management. Your primary responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels to optimize sales, ensuring merchandise presentation is attractive and profitable, and delivering high-quality customer service. This leadership role also involves acting as the Manager on Duty when Store Management is absent, including opening and closing the CHEF'STORE® to keep operations running smoothly.

The position requires a hands-on approach to leadership, including training, motivating, and developing staff to meet and uphold company standards. You will be accountable for executing daily orders, maximizing department sales, and maintaining appealing product presentation and pricing within your assigned areas. Beyond overseeing the retail functions, you are expected to ensure the facility is safe, tidy, and complies with all safety policies, addressing and reporting any safety concerns promptly.

The role demands a flexible and adaptable individual who can think logically, make sound business decisions, and maintain professional relationships with customers. Physical job demands include walking, standing, lifting, and other activities required to manage inventory and store presentation effectively. The work environment ranges in temperature and may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Importantly, US Foods values team members who can 'roll up their sleeves' to provide fast, easy, and efficient service, underscoring the teamwork-driven culture of the store.

In this multifaceted leadership role, the Retail Department Lead contributes significantly to the success of the CHEF'STORE® team and is a vital representative of US Foods' customer commitment. The position offers a rewarding career path within a company that values integrity, reliability, and customer-focused excellence. Employees in this role benefit from a supportive culture and comprehensive benefits package designed to promote health and well-being. If you are motivated, self-driven, and eager to lead a customer-centric team in a dynamic, foodservice retail environment, this opportunity at US Foods could be an excellent fit.
