Job Description
US Foods is one of America's leading foodservice distributors, serving a wide range of customers in the restaurant, healthcare, education, and hospitality sectors. With a commitment to quality products, dependable delivery, and exceptional customer service, US Foods supports foodservice operators nationwide, helping them succeed with innovative solutions and a broad selection of products. As a company that values community, innovation, and teamwork, US Foods fosters a work environment where employees are encouraged to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully. The company prides itself on its strong values and culture that prioritizes customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This position is a full-time role with a competitive starting pay of $18.46 per hour. The schedule is typically 30-40 hours per week, with shifts from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, including weekends and holidays. Benefits start from day one, offering employees comprehensive options including health insurance and retirement plans.
The role of Lead for Dry, Disposables, and Culinary Equipment Supplies (CES) at US Foods is an integral position responsible for overseeing all functions within these departments, as well as fresh departments as assigned by store management. This role entails ensuring effective inventory management, maintaining appealing and profitable merchandise presentation, and delivering quality customer service consistently. As the lead, you will have Manager on Duty responsibilities when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager are absent, including opening and closing the CHEF'STORE. This leadership role requires the ability to train, motivate, and develop staff to uphold company standards and provide superior customer experiences. The position demands an individual who can manage inventory effectively, place orders daily, ensure products are fresh and well-stocked, and that the store environment remains safe and inviting.
The Lead will also promote the company’s cultural beliefs and ensure all safety policies and practices are followed at all times to maintain a safe environment for both staff and customers. In addition, this role involves correcting safety issues as they arise and communicating with store management for unresolved concerns. Although this position does not require direct supervision over other employees, it does entail monitoring performance, providing real-time coaching, and supporting other associates in achieving departmental goals. Working in a retail environment, the lead interacts with all levels of employees internally and serves as a key contact for customers and service providers externally. The physical nature of the job involves standing and walking continuously, occasional driving, and handling heavy lifting as required, ensuring the operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone with at least three years of experience in retail, restaurant, or customer service environments, and preferentially, supervisory or lead experience. It requires an individual who can work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays and is proficient with computer use, including word processing, email, and internet software. The preferred candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, common sense, and business acumen, along with the motivation to help the team succeed by rolling up their sleeves to meet customer needs promptly. Overall, this position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a well-established foodservice company that supports career growth and provides a robust benefits package.
