This Dental Administrative Assistant role at NEMS is a full-time, non-exempt position designed for an organized and customer-service-oriented individual to support dental clinic operations. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring patients can effectively utilize the dental services offered while managing a variety of general clerical and billing duties. The assistant will be responsible for greeting clients, answering phones courteously, directing clients within the clinic, explaining the clinic's system and services to new patients, and handling patient schedules and insurance authorizations. The role demands strong communication skills in English and fluency in both Cantonese and Mandarin to better serve NEMS' diverse patient population. Additional responsibilities include maintaining dental records, handling billing tasks including Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, Medicare, and private insurance billing, and managing cash register transactions.
Candidates for this role should have a minimum of a high school diploma and at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in dental insurance billing. Knowledge of dental terminology and the ability to read radiographs are highly valued to facilitate billing processes accurately. Experience with computer data entry systems, especially EPIC, is essential. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Greet clients and answer phones courteously for the clinic
- direct clients to appropriate services as needed
- explain NEMS system and clinic services to new clients
- direct and escort clients to assigned operatories
- handle schedules and appointments for patients and clinic providers
- keep track of Denti-Cal or insurance authorization and schedule appointments accordingly
- handle dental records including filing information in dental charts and NextGen system, filing X-rays, requesting charts, prepping charts and superbills
- obtain Denti-Cal / Medi-Cal stickers from clients and verify Denti-Cal eligibility
- handle cash register, check client’s balance and obtain payment
- prepare and audit charge and receipt summary at the end of the day, make corrections to data entry if needed
- handle daily clerical duties such as typing, filing, office supplies, receiving and sorting mail
- handle, process and file all types of billing including Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, Medicare, and private insurance
- perform other job duties as required by manager or supervisor
