This role is for a Restaurant General Manager at a Denny's unit responsible for overseeing the entire operational functions of the restaurant. The position requires a strong leadership presence to manage daily activities effectively and ensure top-notch customer service, profitability, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The restaurant general manager plays a critical role in implementing the Service Profit Chain and Brand Promise, fostering a customer-centric environment, and leading a team to meet and exceed sales and service goals.

The general manager is expected to recruit, train, develop, and evaluate restaurant employees, ensuring sufficient staffing levels and facilitating the growth of potential team leaders and managers. They will cultivate an employee-friendly environment that promotes respect, recognition, and motivation. By reinforcing Denny's systems, processes, and tools, the general manager holds staff accountable for delivering excellent internal and external service.

Externally, this role involves supervising the guest experience to guarantee exceptional service quality and food safety. The general manager must maintain the restaurant’s brand reputation by managing cleanliness, maintenance, and compliance with food safety protocols. They will address guest concerns promptly and professionally, using feedback to continuously improve operations.

Financial management is a significant part of the role, involving analysis of operational reports and financial data to identify trends and implement action plans for sales growth and profitability. The general manager must monitor costs closely, adhere to budgets, and protect the Denny's brand by making thoughtful, data-driven business decisions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year experience as associate manager or 2 years as first assistant manager for internal promotion
  • minimum 3 years experience managing a service concept with full P L responsibility for external hire
  • must be certified in all workstations
  • completion of restaurant manager training classes
  • ServSafe certification
  • ability to speak read and write English
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • basic math skills
  • analytical skills
  • organizational and planning skills
  • proficiency with personal computers and software
  • valid driver's license and insurance
  • ability to use personal vehicle
  • ability to stand and walk for 85 to 95 percent of shift

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma G E D or equivalent
  • associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum of 1 plus years experience as an associate manager or 2 years experience as a first assistant manager for internal promote
  • minimum of 3 years experience managing a service concept with full P L responsibility for external recruit
  • must be 100 percent certified in all workstations
  • must complete restaurant manager training classes
  • must be ServSafe certified
  • ability to speak read and write effectively in English
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • ability to perform and understand basic math concepts
  • proven analytical skills
  • good organization and planning skills
  • proficient knowledge of personal computers and software applications
  • valid driver's license and insurance

Job Duties

  • Recruits selects trains develops and evaluates restaurant employees

  • ensures systems for training employees on workstations are fully implemented and adhered to by management and crew

  • manages daily activities to achieve excellence in restaurant operational performance

  • responds to guest concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • utilizes management information tools to analyze restaurant operations and financial performance
  • focuses on increasing sales and profitability by executing the Service Profit Chain
  • monitors costs adherence to budget and restaurant goals
  • maintains restaurant cleanliness maintenance and excellent service
  • treats employees with respect and dignity and motivates staff to achieve high performance
